Gardens of the Gulf:
Gardens of the Gulf: "Shall We Gather at the
River?"
Co-Chairs The Cohasset Historical Society is a private non-profit organization that is very rich in Cohasset history. We are the stewards of three buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places: the Pratt Building at 106 South Main Street (former Cohasset Town Library), the Captain John Wilson House, and the Samuel Bates Ship Chandlery located at 4 Elm Street in Cohasset Village. We also have a large collection of historical documents and textiles, works of art and artifacts. Our funding comes from membership dues, private donations, grants and a very small endowment. Funding is essential and fundraisers are key. On Wednesday, June 23, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. a fundraiser of great significance has been planned. It will be an opportunity to tour notable gardens on the Gulf River in Cohasset and Scituate not usually open to the public. The title of this tour has historic roots in the traditional Christian hymn written in 1864 by American poet and composer Robert Lowry (1826-1899). The catalogue will include information about the gardens and ads from businesses and friends and will serve as your ticket. If you have any questions, please call the Society (781.383.1434) and ask for Kathy O'Mally. Thank you in advance for your support. The Cohasset Historical Society is a 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt organization.
